Sherman Library and Gardens is hosting a Bonsai Class on Dwarf Camellias. On Thursday, January 26th, from 10am to 1pm, learn how to maintain and display a camelia in the traditional Japanese style. Instructor Debra Mauzy-Melitz from the Orange Empire Bonsai Society will show participants to how to prepare a dwarf camellia to be grown in the traditional windswept design, called Fukinagashi. Participants will begin by repotting the dwarf camellia into an asymmetrical pot, the next step is learning to wire the branches for directional growth. Beginners are welcome.
